Funny that out of the all actors mentioned here, only Mortensen is really good. As for the people trying to sell that Cage is a good actor, here, take a look:

I've seen GI Jane before but I don't remember Viggo being in it, it's been so long. By "pulling a Riker in Insurrection(TM)" do you mean he: 1) Shaved his beard? 2) Posed in "The Riker"? 3) Somehow did a "Riker Maneuver"-esque stunt?
No. As in, the movie was nowhere near great. Often people wouldn't even call it good. But in spite of that his character was awesome.

The Road as a film was incredibly empty. The director really let down what could have been a very gripping story, and instead took the minimalism of the story and made it simplistic. Which is something minimalism should never be. It turned out to be a rather cookie-cutter morality tale, wheras the book was nothing of the sort. The whole film was one big build up to something that never came. There is no real climax to the build up of the audience's tension with the main character's struggles and apart from the struggle against nature, there is little conflict. The trailer presented a very different kind of film from what it really was. Honestly, the best thing about The Road was its haunting soundtrack by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. (Whom both also did
ing amazing scoring to The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and The Proposition)
So you've read the book? I agree with what you said. The book was just so amazing... I'm going to post my review of The Road in my thread now. Yeah, I didn't think of the book as a morality tale. It was a story about hope, despair, and most importantly, love. The movie just seemed to lack the...heart of the book for different reasons. The score was really good, though, I agree. I love The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford music.

Man, that movie's awesome. I've probably seen it more than all of you combined.

Ah, I see. Well, if you have a movie called GI Jane it's probably not going to be good.

Adaptation: He plays TWO different roles, one of them a chronic masturbator! Bad Lieutenant: A crazy, drugged up police officer who is corrupt and sees imaginary iguanas, not to mention dancing souls.
And let's not forget Vampire's Kiss:

And how is this next role the same as his others?

Uncertain whether if DiCaprio was ever unpopular.
Anyway, for me I used to loathed him.
But his movies the past 5 years or so have definitively made me surrender.
Now I think he's great.

I guess you can count him as unpopular since he died in the mid-50's, but damn it he's my favorite actor. Bela Lugosi.

If you imply that Norton or Billy Bob are great actors well, we disagree here. And those like Oldman and Hauer are rated properly. Mortensen, on the other hand, never got proper rating of his acting...

I'd hardly qualify James Franco as unpopular.

again, not someone most people would call "unpopular"
Maybe the OP should clarify what he means by unpopular.

What movies do you base off of for your opinion of Norton?
Oldman gets very little recognition outside of his fans. Hauer should be cast more often. Mortensen doesn't get a whole lot of roles because he's not primarily an actor. He's a painter, poet, photographer, and jazz musician. I agree that he has a lot of potential.

My favorite movie of all time is definaty the Last of the Mohicans. Sadly enough Eric Schweig and Jodhi May are barely known despite their truly amazing performances in this movie, in their final scene. They show so much emotion without saying a single word. Their underlying hint at romance steals the show from the main romance if you ask me.
Truly a great movie with many strong actors. I liked both Jodhi May and Madeline Stowe especally because they played strong female characters that were actually feminine. Compare w/ any other woman action star, they all act like men with tits who can miraculously beat up brawny guys 2x their weight in crapfests like in 'The Last Legion' or any Angelina Jolie movie.

How many good roles has Kevin Spacey had in the past 10 years? His talent has been relatively unused since 2000. How many people even know who Edward Norton even is? They just know him as the dude in Fight Club. But that wasn't his strongest role.
And I said Ben Foster.
I agree about Sam Neill. Loved his flamboyance in Restoration.

K-Pax was 10 years ago. 21 was okay. Haven't seen Casino Jack myself.
