The Bachelorette Episode 4 followed Charity and the guys to Stevenson, Washington, for a week filled with breathtaking mountain views, pine trees galore, lots of rain, and a few (definitely real and not at all Jesse Palmer in a suit) Bigfoot sightings.

With feelings for Charity stronger than ever, Week 4 sees contestants struggling to keep their cool after hearing their names on the group date card. And as always, we watch Brayden put on a fresh pair of earrings and struggle to keep his cool at…all times. He’s got beef with Aaron B., who “pulled a bitch move” by bringing concerns to Charity in Episode 3. He’s fed up with Sean, who “looks like Prince Charming off of Shrek” and is confident in his connection with Charity. And he thinks he’s on the chopping block because she’s mad at him from the last co*cktail party.

Luckily, Brayden’s out of the picture for two romantic one-on-one dates. But his smarts, bravery, and strength are put to the test in a competitive group date featuring three cute, yet terrifying, special guests.

Looking for a recap of The Bachelorette Season 20, Week 4? Wondering who snagged a one-on-one date with Charity? What fresh hell has Brayden unleashed on the guys? And who went home? Decider’s Season 20, Episode 4 recap breaks down all the juicy details. Just be mindful that spoilers lie ahead.

Date 1 Recap: Charity Lawson and Dotun Olubeko’s One-On-One Date

Charity invited Dotun, a 30-year-old integrative medicine specialist from Brooklyn, New York, to conquer one of his biggest fears: heights. She picked him up in a lime green Jeep, drove him to one of the tallest bridges in North America, and the two strapped on their gear and prepped to bungee jump 20 stories.

Dotun was so terrified he told the cameras “one of my biggest heights is fears” in a confessional. And Charity was so worried she started crying ahead of their big leap. After careening towards a body of water and bouncing back on their tether unscathed, Charity and Dotun shared a romantic kiss and even opted for Round 2. Conquering their fears was liberating, and after sipping celebratory champagne underneath a rainbow (nature really showed up for Dotun), the two met up for a night of s’mores making, deep conversation, and a hot tub make-out sesh. Charity and Dotun consistently dive deep in effortless conversations. They feel natural together, and after a superb one-on-one, the words “perfect match” were even tossed around.

Did Dotun Get The Rose? You bet. Dotun and Charity’s connection was a bit of a slow burn, but rest assured, that flame is blazing now.

Date 2 Recap: Wilderness Charcuterie Boards And Group Date Brayden Hate

Week 4’s group date saw Joey, Aaron B., Michael, Caleb B., Brayden, Sean, John, and Tanner putting their best flannels forward and meeting Charity in the woods to get schooled on wilderness survival by three young, sassy Skamania Scouts.

The girls set out to test the resourcefulness, bravery, and strength of Charity’s men to see which had the strongest future husband potential. The winner got some special time with Charity at The Kissing Tree, but the losers still had time to connect with her at the afterparty. To kick things off, the men were sent to scavenge for food. Three clear frontrunners emerged, with Aaron B scoring a frog, Tanner assembling a Wilderness Charcuterie Board, and Brayden (who wore no coat in the freezing cold and joked he was “gonna get real primal and start humping everything” ?!) assembling a “salad platter.” Tensions rose during the trivia portion of the date when the young scouts brought cannibalism into the mix. They asked each man who they’d eat first to survive, and every single one said Brayden, except for Brayden, who said Sean. The group date Brayden hated was yet another red flag for Charity, but before she could unpack the tension, she took the winner of the group date, Aaron B., to the kissing tree for some one-on-one time.

Fear not, Team Anyone But Brayden. The drama picked back up at the afterparty when Charity walked in on a heated discussion between Brayden and the guys. After learning Brayden packed his bags more than once, Charity asked Brayden to chat, and he used his powers of manipulation to attempt to flip the blame once again. A frustrated Chairty wasn’t giving him grace this time, and finally, the two reached an understanding.

“I feel like I like you, but I don’t want to be here right now. And I feel like I’m not capable of getting there in this environment,” Brayden said. Charity explained it was disappointing to see such a strong connection plummet, but ultimately she deserves someone who puts his whole heart into the process, so she walked Brayden out FINALLY.

After taking a few moments to compose herself, Charity returned to the group to celebrate the weight that was lifted by Brayden’s departure.

Who Got The Group Date Rose? The “monumental night” was full of crucial conversations, including one with Aaron B, who was thanked yet again for bringing Brayden’s red flags to her attention. But the rose went to fan-favorite contestant Joey G.

Date 3 Recap: Charity Lawson and Xavier Bonner’s One-On-One Date

The final date of Week 4 went to Xavier Bonner, a 27-year-old biomedical scientist from Carrboro, North Carolina. But before we talk about him and Charity, we must talk about his gorgeous, glorious, Chris Evans in Knives Out-level first date sweater. The blue, green, and cream knit masterpiece featuring a variety of textures, patterns, and holes, would have earned this man a rose from me on the spot. But Charity took much longer to decide if her connection with Xavier was worthy of a second date.

The two spent the day exploring a fruit festival and sipping champagne on a train. Though Charity was having fun, she couldn’t shake the feeling that Xavier reminded her of men she’s dated in the past. She knew their dinner conversation would be crucial, so she wasted no time asking about his previous relationships. To her surprise, Xavier was instantly vulnerable and expressed his fear of not being enough or having love reciprocated. Then, he asked Charity what she was most wary about in a marriage, and she opened up about her fear of infidelity. Before the conversation concluded, Xavier shared that his mom has multiple sclerosis and his dad is her primary caregiver, so that’s the level of love and care he aspires to give his future wife. Xavier told Charity he’s dedicated his entire life and career to the chance of helping his mom, which moved her to tears and changed her outlook on him entirely.

Did Xavier Get The Rose? Absolutely. It genuinely looked like Charity would send him home for the first half, but once she got to see the real him she wasn’t ready to say goodbye.

The Bachelor Season 20, Episode 4 co*cktail Party And Rose Ceremony Recap: Brayden’s Return And Who Went Home Week 4?

With Brayden gone, the guys felt on top of the world going into Week 4’s co*cktail party. But after Charity has quality one-on-one time with half of the men, Bigfoot — er, Brayden in flip flops and a scarf — came traipsing through the woods into the lodge to steal time away from yet another crucial night.

After interrupting John’s one-on-one time with Charity, Brayden apologized for being “emotionally charged” earlier in what came across as a blatant effort to get more screen time. As he walked himself out, Aaron B confronted him and told him to apologize to John for ruining his time with Charity. The guys followed him out to his van, and John explained he’s on the chopping block and might go home because of Brayden’s stunt. The Season 20 villain finally drove away (hopefully for good), but Charity predictably cut the co*cktail party short, which devastated the guys who didn’t get a chance to talk to her.

With Dotun, Joey, and Xavier already safe, Charity only had three roses to hand out, which means three men would be sent packing. Aaron B., Tanner, and Sean snagged rose ceremony roses. So here’s who went home Week 4:

  • Brayden, a 24 year old travel nurse (and travel nuisance) from San Diego, California
  • Caleb B, a 24-year-old pro wrestler from Orlando, Florida
  • Michael, a 28-year-old yacht captain from Chicago, Illinois
  • John, a 27-year-old data scientist from New York, who would make a great Bachelor

See you back here next week for another chapter of Charity’s unconventional love story.
