It appears that Brits are starting to fall out of love with the famous beach resort, with one reviewer vowing to never return.

A British tourist has slammed a popular Benidorm beach, vowing to never go back again after a run-in with a speeding mobility scooter. Playa de Levante attracts thousands of sun seekers every year, including many Brits.

Stretching more than 2 kilometres, it is one of the most popular beaches in Benidorm. Its prime location on the eastern coast of Spain ensures a pleasant Mediterranean climate with warm temperatures

However, it appears Brits are starting to fall out of love with the famous beach resort. One visitor complained of almost being mowed sown by a mobility scooter careering along at 40 miles per hour.

In a Tripadvisor post, Kieran m wrote: "Don't get me wrong the place was lovely and very close to the UK as I don't like flying but the only thing I detest with a vengeance is the way the scooters and them mobility scooters are used.

"I know scooters are used for work to deliver food and other things, but when someone goes around a tight corner at nearly 30-40 miles an hour - even other tourists were shocked as it nearly missed them.

"It also nearly missed me by a few feet. I'd rather not go back there as I don't fancy being in the hospital, in an ICU or any other ward - maybe even dead given your own bad health so I will never be back.

"I even saw a woman being hit just walking through the old town and hurt her wrist. So Benidorm, no thanks it's too many accidents waiting to happen..."

Benidorm attracted almost three million visitors in 2023, over 800,000 of which were from the UK. The resort, though, is starting to become a victim of its own success, with more and more people complaining about overcrowding, especially on the beaches.

Helen M wrote: "Too many people, couldn't see the beach for bodies! Benidorm is dirty and if you are a vegetarian don't visit this town."

While Poochie75 said: "Soooo busy and beds are very expensive. Too much for the children to deal with so went back to our holiday hotel."

Despite the complaints, many still loved the beach and all it had to offer. "Levante Beach is the beach of the New Town and a wonderful beach at that," wrote Neil K.

"Sand is clean, waters clear and inviting and there's great beach amenities, along the promenade are superb pubs, bars and restaurants."

He added: "Benidorm is an amazing and extremely popular sun kissed resort and most definitely well worth checking out if you're planning a holiday to the wonderful country of Spain."
